Andrea Blonsky

After completing her Mathematics and Law degrees at the University of Alberta, Andrea was admitted to the Alberta bar in 1985. She was an associate with a major Edmonton firm until relocating to the Calgary area in 1997 where she has practiced since.

Andrea’s practice focuses on estate planning, [including wills, enduring powers of attorney and personal directives], elder advocacy and estate administration. With a background in corporate and real estate law, Andrea deals with the various aspects of estate planning and estate administration involving land and corporate interests. She enjoys assisting clients in navigating through the estate planning and administration process.

Andrea is an advocate for the use of plain language in legal drafting and has served with the Canadian Bar Association Plain Language Section. She has instructed Will Drafting and Legal Writing and Drafting courses for the Legal Education Society, and for the Alberta Bar Admission Program for articling students. She has made frequent presentations on Wills and Estate Planning for various community groups and institutions.

Andrea, her husband, Laun, and their four children all enjoy spending time in the mountains. Andrea is actively involved with the Cochrane Community Gardens Society and is an advocate for local food production and the use of urban agriculture both domestically and in the developing world. She faces the gardening challenges of Calgary’s variable climate with eternal optimism.
