Derek assists clients with their estate planning needs, including the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, personal directives, and trusts. Derek also assists clients with estate administration matters, such as applying for probate.

Derek is a third generation Calgarian and he obtained his law degree from the University of Calgary. Upon finishing law school, Derek articled and practiced with a boutique family law firm in Calgary. Derek then transitioned to a national trust company where he was employed as a Trust Officer. These roles provided Derek with a wealth of knowledge and experience that is applicable to his estate planning and administration practice.

Derek is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Canadian Bar Association.

Prior to law school, Derek obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia with a major in Anthropology and a specialization in Archaeology. Upon completing this degree, Derek worked as an Archaeologist for a cultural resource management firm before moving to a private paleontology firm.

Derek enjoys spending his free time with his partner and their dogs.
